This photo from a small city in Queens called Long Island City. It is a part of Astoria. a large part of Astoria (The Greek neighbor of New York) called long Island City. Long Island City is very close distance to Manhattan and only cross the famous 59th Street Bridge. The Bridge is one of several bridges that connect Manhattan with the other neighbor boroughs. Not long time ago, Long Island city used to be industrial city with a very small residential area contain of small family houses. Now, It is full with tall luxuries building (such Citibank building) and others such tall buildings. The City attract the young family, couples and the single people who moved from Manhattan and crossed the river for better, bigger and cheaper resident, easy commute to midtown and still looks at Hudson river with beautiful view of Manhattan skyscraper as you see in my photo. there is some of old warehouse space and low rents which attract artist and executive who live there since long time.
The neighborhood
Now, Long Island City neighborhood change from street to street. Now, it is full of a large, new and very large and small parks and playground for all ages, nice restaurant. The best and the most attractive in Long Island city is the view to Manhattan. All of this attraction are busy at all the time if you plan to go there especially when the weather is good.
The Commute
Subway lines serving Long Island City include the E, F, G, M, N, R, Q and 7, with rides as short as around five minutes to Grand Central Terminal on the 7. The East River Ferry makes four stops in Brooklyn and two in Manhattan. The Long Island Rail Road has two stops.
